We Got a Boat. Here's Why.
Intro: Some guys buy sports cars. We bought a Lund.
Not because we needed to go faster, but because we needed to go further—to the backwaters, the islands, the wind-blown banks where the big ones sip bugs in silence. The DriftRig boat is here, and she's not just a toy. She's a tool.
The Rig: She's a 2017 Lund 1775 Renegade powered by a 90HP Mercury and equipped with a Minn Kota Ulterra and a Humminbird Helix 9. That might sound like overkill if you fish from shore—but trust us, every bit of it has a purpose.
The Ulterra trolls silently so we can fish stealthy, fine-tuned drifts.
The Helix helps us find structure, temps, and bait that used to be just guesses.
The deck space gives us room for fly boxes, camera gear, and cold beer.
Why a Boat? Because DriftRig is more than a website. It’s a mission: to chase fish, stories, and good times without limits. A boat doesn’t just help us reach more fish. It helps us create more content, test more gear, and go where others can't.
More boat = more water. More water = more stories.
What This Means for DriftRig:
You'll start seeing boat-focused reports on lakes and slower rivers.
We’ll be testing gear in real-time, right from the deck.
Expect reels, blog breakdowns, maybe even a DriftRig YouTube in the future.
The Maiden Voyage: We broke her in with sunshine, a cooler full of gas station snacks, and a few fish that made it worth every penny. No breakdowns, no man overboard, just good water and better memories. One fat trout, one happy crew.
Final Cast: This isn’t about flexing a fancy hull. It’s about unlocking new ways to chase fish, film it, and bring the DriftRig vision to life. So if you see us motoring into a cove near you—just know we’re not here to crowd the spot. We’re here to drift it right.
> Big thanks to everyone who's been following the journey. The boat's here. Let's ride.
